Our Commitment to Accessibility

Benjamin Eye Institute is committed to ensuring that our website, benjamineye.com, is accessible to all individuals, including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor disabilities. As an eye care practice, we understand firsthand how important accessible communication and information are for our patients and community.

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines describe how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.

What We Do

Accessibility Features

We have implemented and actively maintain the following accessibility measures on our website:

Keyboard Navigation

All interactive elements are reachable and operable via keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse.

Screen Reader Support

Pages use semantic HTML, ARIA landmarks, and descriptive alt text to support screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.

Accessibility Widget

An on-page accessibility toolbar allows users to adjust font size, contrast, spacing, and other display preferences at any time.

Descriptive Links

Links are written to make sense out of context, so screen reader users can navigate without reading surrounding text.

Forms & Inputs

All forms include visible labels, error identification, and suggestions to help users complete and submit information successfully.

Technical Standards

Conformance Status

Benjamin Eye Institute targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance. We perform ongoing reviews using a combination of automated testing tools, manual keyboard navigation testing, and screen reader evaluation.

We also review our website for compliance with applicable federal and California state accessibility laws, including Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the California Unruh Civil Rights Act.
